INTERIOR | Work Area, Notebook Fetish

Photobucket

Photobucket

Desk: Made by my boyfriend with plumbing pipes and leftover perspex from my side table DIY. He is a genius when it comes to interior design projects; I could hardy call this a DIY, it's more like a finished product.
Lamp: Also made by my boyfriend from old merchandising material from the shop where he works.
Chair: Hema
Current notebooks: Large black ringbound notebook: Tiger DK, thin sketch book: Moleskine, thick sketch book: Moleskine, double binder white notebooks: Maison Martin Margiela
Clear cuff: DIY

I am obsessed with working areas; whether that be someone's kitchen table, Jowy's little art room where she works on her illustrations or Linda's atelier. So I thought it would be fun to also share some snapshots of the area where I blog from; a corner of our living room. I don't separate 'work' from the rest of my life; one should spend as much time doing what they love, I don't mind staying up all night to work on interesting projects. The pile of notebooks is the result of my notebook fetish, and these are my current favorites. I always make sure I have at least one of them with me at all times as ideas and inspiration come when you least expect them.

NOVELTY | Stockholm; Altewaisaome ss13

images: MBFW

Oh how I wish I were in Stockholm this week! The Swedes always manage to present modern, simplistic and forward collections. Altewaisaome, a new label established only 3 years ago, showed their fourth collection on Monday. I love the big boxy silhouettes and the layered panels of fabric which give so much depth to their looks without being distractive and too fussy.

ACCESSORIES | Orthopedic

Photobucket
Rings: courtesy of Backstage jewelry

These thin double rings that are connected at the back of the finger by two thin bars remind me of medical, orthopedic finger splints; marvelous! They almost look a bit restraining but at the same time are very delicate and subtle. They've been on my index fingers ever since I opened the little parcel from Backstage.

Lazy Summer Day Stamping

to sailawy 2 (2)
August has been DELIGHFUL for us here at the Weckesser Homestead!
We have spent some time camping, relaxing, and just playing in the garden. It has been fun after a super busy year just to take a little time and play together as a family.
That doesn't mean that I haven't had my {CRAFTING} moments!20120821_157 While I was enjoying some quiet moments in Waterton, Alberta, I created a card using some chalkboard paper from Canvas Corp. I used some of Heidi Swapp's COLOR SHINE. Love it! It is a new product and the color is FAB!
Then I used one of my new co-branded Unity Stamps ~ Sail Away . I used some UTEE on the image.

20120801_10  I used Clearsnap'S  wonderful smooch to color in the image. I love how the {COLOR} pops! to sail away

BEAUTY | Red Eye Shadow

dress: Topshop
eyeshadow: Matte cold red by Make up forever
make up by Laura Steenge

Laura Steenge is one of the most ambitious people I’ve met lately; she wants to become a make up artists. Though she is studying communication and design at the moment and not everyone around her thinks that working with cosmetics is a real career, Laura is determined to become one of the best make up artists around.

She e-mailed me a while back to ask if she could do my make up sometime, last week she came by my home and practiced her skills on my face. She even made a bunch of sketches of my eye with some of her ideas. Laura is completely self-taught and besides all the products of big cosmetic brands in her suitcase she also brought some unusual stuff like baby powder which she used to set the foundation, eye shadow, and make the lips a bit matte. According to Laura ‘baby powder is the shit’ unlike regular powder it is transparent, suits every skin color and holds a long time.

This red eyeshadow was my favorite look she did that day. But it weren't only her great ideas and maquillage-skills that impressed me but also her drive and clear vision of what she wants. Chase your dreams!

OUTFITS | Cozy Silhouette

oversized sweater: boyfriend's closet
short: cut off thrifted shiny legging
heels: Topshop
gold lunch bag: DIY

Summer 2012 will be over in exactly one month. I will miss the long evenings, the sound of birds and kids and riding my bike without any resistance from the wind and rain. Though I am looking forward to the oversized silhouette for winter as seen at Proenza Schouler and Acne among others. So snug and cosy! My impatience took over today and I decided to already get into a too big, shapeless sweatshirt from my boyfriend.

Stuff that makes me happy;

The most comforting cosy garment.

Love how thick, not so delicate and vegetable-like the stems of these flowers are.

Hardware store treasure hunting is my favorite hobby.

Full white look from Australian brand Ellery, in Australian magazine Rush. Need to go to Australia.
